Presented by Lacrosse.com and endorsed by Jacksonville University and Florida Southern College Men’s Lacrosse Programs, the Central Florida Lacrosse Classic aims to celebrate the excitement, diversity, and excellence that youth and high school lacrosse has to offer by bringing together the finest players and teams from Local, National and International locations.
Players will be given a unique lacrosse experience, exceptional competition, and the ultimate challenge to be the best.
The Central Florida Lacrosse Classic is scheduled to take place during the MLK Holiday Week.end, January 14-16, 2011 at Simmons-Young Park in Winter Haven, Florida which is between Orlando and Tampa and nearby Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens. The event will host a pre-season lacrosse tournament open to high school and middle school teams.
In addition, the Brogden Cup International Field Lacrosse Games played annually between the USA and Canada features some of the top college recruits in North America competing for this North American Championship. Team Maryland Prep, representing the USA has qualified to play for the Brogden Cup by winning the 2011 adidas National Lacrosse Classic. Representing Canada, Team Ontario comprises the top players from the 22 team Ontario Junior Men’s Field Lacrosse League. The Brogden Cup is a best of 3 game series. Team Rochester representing the USA is the 2009-2010 Champion.
The I-Cup International Lacrosse Cup Series will feature local, National and International teams playing in this International inaugural lacrosse event on American soil. U19 Teams from the Iroquois Nation, Canada and Florida will compete for the 2011 I-Cup. According to Level 2 Sports event organizer, Joel Franklin, “Unlike the World Games which are played every four years, the Brogden Cup and I-Cup provides playing opportunities to players with unfortunate birthdates unable to play in the World Games. The teams are full of the top U19 talent and the match-ups will be extremely competitive and entertaining to watch.”
The Brogden Cup and I-Cup International Field Lacrosse competitions are open to the public. Admission and parking is free. Instructional clinics will be conducted by NCAA lacrosse coaches and players from DI, II & III programs. For event and player registration details, visit www.centralfloridalacrosseclassic.com
