Northwestern takes its first steps in the journey toward defending its seventh NCAA championship in eight years when it reconvenes for its 2012 fall season in the upcoming weeks. Five-time IWLCA National Coach of the Year Kelly Amonte Hiller announced today (Wednesday) the fall competition schedule for her Wildcats, which includes three chances to catch the defending champs at Lakeside Field.

• Saturday, Sept. 29 — vs. Ohio State (Indianapolis), Time TBA
• Sunday, Sept. 30 — vs. Notre Dame (Evanston), 1 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 6 — at Loyola (Md.) (Baltimore), 2:30 p.m. ET
• Saturday, Oct. 7 — Play For Parkinsons Tournament (Alexandria, Va.)
– 9 a.m. ET: Northwestern vs. Penn State
– 10:20 a.m. ET: Northwestern vs. Duke
– 1 p.m. ET: Northwestern vs. Maryland
• Wednesday, Oct. 17 — vs. Marquette (Evanston), 7 p.m.
• Friday, Oct. 26 — Alumni Game (Evanston), 8:30 p.m.
