1. La Costa Canyon (Calif.), 17-1 The Mavericks avenged their only loss of the regular season to Coronado (Calif.) with an 8-7 victory. La Costa Canyon knocked off Mount Carmel (Calif.), 16-1, to extend its winning streak to 16 games. Kiki Gibson had three goals and three assists in that game. The Mavericks advance to the semifinals against Torrey Pines (Calif.) — a team they beat twice already this season —in a game slated for Wednesday.
2. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 16-1 The Bruins topped Mullen (Colo.), 17-9, in the second round of the Colorado playoffs. Anya Gersoff (Princeton) led the way with four goals and two assists, while Mara Bandt-Law also had four goals. That victory came on the heals of handing Regis Jesuit (Colo.) only its second loss of the season, 11-8. Cherry Creek beat Denver East (Colo.), 21-8, in the quarterfinals.
3. Coronado (Calif.), 17-2 The Islanders bounced back from a hear-breaking loss to La Costa Canyon (Calif.) with victories over Scripps Ranch (Calif.), 15-5, to win the City Conference championship. Coronado then beat Bishop’s School (Calif.), 17-5, in the CIF San Diego Section Division I playoffs. The Islanders are gunning for a second straight CIF championship.
4. Carondelet (Calif.), 17-2 The Islanders have gotten healthy and increased their winning streak to eight games. Carondelet beat Foothill-Pleasanton (Calif.) 18-7 and California (Calif.) 16-8. Erin Jeffery leads the league with 97 goals and 132 points.
5. Kent Denver (Colo.), 15-2 The Sun Devils overwhelmed 15th-seeded Chatfield (Colo.), 21-8, in the second round of the Colorado playoffs. Lucy Dikeou continued her dominance by scoring eight goals with four assists, while Lizzie Strazza also had four goals and four assists and Abby Godfrey and Lucy Mower had two goals each. Catherine Ellis leads the team with 63 goals. Kent Denver topped Arapahoe (Colo.), 17-8, in the quarterfinals.
6. Los Alamitos (Calif.), 18-2 The Griffins beat Mission Viejo (Calif.), 19-9 to win their fourth straight US Lacrosse Southern Section championship. Bailey Brannon scored two goals 23 seconds apart to set an early tone. Los Alamitos finishes the season as the No. 1 team in the Southern Section.
7. Air Academy (Colo.), 15-2 The Kadets continued their impressive run by beating Columbine (Colo.) 20-1 in the Class 4A state playoffs. Erin Todd (Regis) led the way with seven goals, while Miranda Beal (Navy) had a goal and six assists and Kayley Holmes finished with two goals and three assists.
8. Centaurus (Colo.), 12-4 The Warriors advanced to the quarterfinals of the Colorado state playoffs with a 20-8 victory over Thompson Valley (Colo.). Emma Lazaroff had a game-high seven goals and three assists. She now leads all scorers in the state with 130 goals.
9. Menlo School (Calif.), 16-4 The Knights won their eighth West Bay Athletic League title since 2004 with a 21-6 victory over Burlingame (Calif.). Nine different Menlo players scored goals. Michaela Michael, Ali Kim, Brooke Bullington, Kaitlin Frangione, Hannah Rubin and Alyssa Sherman were picked to represent the NorCal Chapter of US Lacrosse at the National Tournament in New York over Memorial Day weekend.
10. Marin Catholic (Calif.), 19-3 The Wildcats won the MCAL title with a 16-8 victory over Novato (Calif.). Megan McCullough finished with three goals. Marin Catholic now moved onto the NCS playoffs as the top seed and a game against Justin-Siena (Calif.). Novato is the second seed so the teams could meet again for another title.
