MCLA Lacrosse: #1 BYU Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Boise State 15-3 On Feb 10


The BYU Men’s Lacrosse Team defeated Boise State University 15-3 at Bronco Stadium in Boise on Friday evening.

BYU (2-0) held its own throughout the first quarter, outscoring the Broncos (0-1) 6-0. Senior Ted Ferrin had a hot streak when he scored three goals in a row in just three minutes.

The second quarter showed more scoring from the BYU offense, who saw success from their starters as well as the bench. Freshmen Christian Taylor and Andrew Bertha both scored their first collegiate goals during the second quarter.

With a halftime score of 10-1, the Broncos were showing no sign of letting down when the third quarter came. Both teams’ defenses were strong, while the Broncos only allowed BYU three goals.

The Bronco offense scored two goals in a row at the onset of the fourth quarter. BYU responded with two more goals throughout the quarter, finishing the game with a solid 15-3 victory for the Cougars.

“We were very pleased with how our team came out and responded this evening,” BYU Head Coach Matt Schneck said. “We were happy that [Boise State Head] Coach Rocchio invited us to come and play this weekend. It was a unique experience for our boys to be able to play here at Bronco Stadium.”
