Kelsey Dreyer, Class of 2012 at Watchung Hills Regional High School, participated in an invitational event most senior athletes long for. She was offered a National Letter of Intent, a bid to both attend and to play lacrosse at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. The signing of the Letter of Intent is an annual, nationwide event through which colleges offer a place in their freshman class to young persons who excel at their sport as well as in academics.
Dreyer, now co-captain, has been on the team since her freshman year and is also a member of the first team of the Skyland Conference. She was named to the 2011 U.S. Lacrosse Academic All American Team.
Outside of school, she belongs to T3 Lacrosse, headquartered in Basking Ridge, and travels the East Coast with the group, which is targeted by college recruiters looking for athletic talent. She learned the sport at a very early age, she says, as her mom was a top lacrosse player and her teacher.
Off the field, Dreyer is a member of the Yearbook Club, has helped found the Surfrider Club, and was named to the National English Honor Society.
