U19 Teams from the Iroquois Nation, Canada and Florida will compete for the 2011 I-Cup. The teams are full of the top U19 talent and the match-ups will be extremely competitive and entertaining to watch.”

The Brogden Cup and I-Cup International Field Lacrosse competitions are open to the public. Admission and parking is free. Instructional clinics will be conducted by NCAA lacrosse coaches and players from DI, II & III programs. For event and player registration details, visit www.centralfloridalacrosseclassic.com

NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Recruiting: Stanford Women’s Lacrosse Announces 9 Student-Athletes Signed For 2011-2012 Season From Western States Including Texas (3), California (2) And Colorado

Stanford head coach Amy Bokker has announced the signing of nine players to national letters of intent. The class will be part of the incoming class next fall and will compete for Stanford during the 2012 season.

“We are pleased to welcome the Stanford Lacrosse class of 2015,” said Bokker. “This class is a great example of how women’s lacrosse is growing across the country. There is representation from six states – a true nationally recruited class. These nine student-athletes have great passion, work ethic, and overall athleticism and we cannot wait to have them as part of our program. We believe they will help us meet our goal of maintaining national lacrosse prominence on the west coast.”

The following are six of the nine student-athletes from western states that signed NLI’s:

Kyle Fraser – Fort Worth, TX – Fort Worth Country Day – Attack
A 2010 first team All-American as a junior. Also the offensive Player of the Year in the state of Texas.
“Kyle is an excellent player that is shifty and can put the ball in the back of the net,” said Bokker. “She not only creates plays for herself, but makes others around her look good.”

Rachel Hinds – San Mateo, CA – St. Ignatius College Prep – Midfield
A 2010 Academic All-American
“Rachel is a true midfielder that has amazing speed,” said Bokker. “She is aggressive, smart and goes hard during every moment of play.”

Emily Newstrom – Cypress, TX – Cypress Woods High School – Midfield
A 2010 First Team All-American and the Westside Lacrosse Texas Girls Player of the Year.
“Emily has exceptional speed and athleticism,” said Bokker. “She truly plays both sides of the ball well, and has great instincts as a defender. Her offensive vision and fearless attitude will bring depth to our midfield.”

Chinna O’Suji – Missouri City, TX – The Kinkaid School – Midfield
“Chinna, as a basketball standout, will bring great natural, athletic instincts to our team, said Bokker.” “She is a presence on the field and a tough, strong player. She has the ability to play anywhere on the field.”

Anna Salemo – Littleton, CO – Heritage High School – Attack
A 2010 honorable mention All-American and Heather Leigh Albert Award Finalist. Also a current member of U-19 United States National Team and a 2010 Academic All-American.
