The defending national champion Duke University men’s lacrosse team will participate in the 2011 Konica Minolta Big City Classic, Bob Carpenter, the Publisher of the Inside Lacrosse, announced on Sept. 30. The Blue Devils will take on 2009 NCAA Champion Syracuse in the Konica Minolta Big City Classic on Sunday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m., at the new Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
Carpenter announced that Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, will continue its commitment as the title sponsor of two of the “must-attend” events in lacrosse, the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic and the Konica Minolta Big City Classic.
“We continue to value our long-term title sponsorship relationship with Konica Minolta,” said Inside Lacrosse Publisher Bob Carpenter. “The ongoing support that Konica Minolta provides to the sport is simply incredible. It’s rare to find a partner outside the lacrosse industry that fully embraces opportunities to grow the sport. We could not bring lacrosse fans the experiences that they crave without the support of Konica Minolta and our other partners. We are truly appreciative of Konica Minolta’s commitment to the cause.”
Duke and Syracuse will face each other in the regular season for the first time since March 28, 1992. The Blue Devils and Orange last met in the 2009 NCAA Semifinal with Syracuse eventually winning the NCAA Championship. In six previous meetings, Syracuse owns five wins. The Blue Devils’ victory came in 1978 with a 10-7 win in Durham.
