How old were you when you first started playing lacrosse?

I was in 6th grade, I was about 12. We were on the Choctaw team with Coach Cade, we had about 15 kids on our team, and most of them lived on the Island and continued playing with me through high school at Coronado.
Has playing in Starz helped develop your game throughout your career?
Most definitely, constantly playing lacrosse in all season has helped, getting to play with different players with different styles. Playing on Laxdawgs elite has been great, Coach Chrismer and Meehan are the best coaches a player can ask for, and we’ve won four consecutive Starz Cups
What role has Starz played in the recruiting process, and getting accepted to play at Washington College?
They first talked to me up at Sonoma, I was playing for the Laxdawgs last summer. Recruiting can get pretty hectic, you have to wind down the number of schools you want to look at. I chose Washington College because both my coaches went there. They gave me a good perspective, and when I went to visit, I fell in love with the place because it’s exactly like the place I grew up.
What are your expectations of playing lacrosse and going to school on the east coast?
I expect myself to give all I can for the team. As far as going to school on the east coast, it’s going to be a big change from Southern California but I’m looking forward to it. I got a chance to preview it on spring break this year when we traveled to Maryland.
What was the highlight of your lacrosse career so far?
Definitely winning the championship this year with the Islanders, and the SD tropics in Sonoma. We [Coronado] were a younger team this year, but a lot of the younger kids played big roles, stepping up in spots where they needed to. And all the older guys helped bring them along, as the captains coached them in areas they weren’t too sure of.
You also coach for the Laxdawgs middle school team, what’s it like being on the other side of things and helping out with coaching as opposed to just playing?
It’s a lot better to be able to spread your knowledge of what your coaches have told you along the way, passing it on to another group of kids which are the future. It’s been a good experience, and a lot of fun.
Do you have any advice to any currents players looking continue playing lacrosse in college?
Try and get your recruiting done earlier, and definitely focus on your academics as well as lacrosse. Coaches look for you being a leader, and staying optimistic on the field.
Off the Field:
Do you have any pregame rituals?
I ate a pear before every game. I used to each peaches my junior year and then I switched to pears senior year.
Are you going to stick with that in college?
Most definitely sticking with pears, after winning a championship.

Go to the beach, run and work out, cliff jumping up in Sunset Cliffs

Applebees – The cowboy burger with onion rings, Angus beef and BBQ sauce…. it’s delicious.
