Starz Cup playoffs are on the near horizon now as we continue through the end of July. With most divisions having played out four jamborees, the Starz Cup playoff seedings have become clear in both brackets.
In the North, intense Middle School play highlighted the South Lake fields this past weekend. Olympian 7′s faced a formidable OC Starz 8′s squad for the first time this season, ending in a 7-7 stalemate. The future seems bright for Orange County lacrosse, as the Breakerz and SC Starz Silver also went undefeated on Sunday. In High School play, the Gryphons and Laxmen continued to roll, winning out their final jamboree. 101 Starz remains to be a Youth powerhouse in the division, tallying 16 goals over the weekend and retaining their top spot in Starz Cup standings.
Down in Ocean Beach, the Laxdawgs Royal High School team top-seed honors in Starz Cup playoffs. RC Starz also posted an impressive outing at Robb Field as RC Silver and Carolina each went 2-0 on the day. Amongst the Middle School competition, RC Carolina caps off an impressive season winning out, as they jump ahead of their RC Silver counterparts in Cup standings. In the Southern Youth bracket, team Relentless remains perfect on the season, while the SD Shredderz and RC Silver also remain high in Cup Standings. Olympian O’ Rourke jumps to the #2 spot in our Mini Coaches poll this week after beating RC Starz in a head-to-head matchup.
