More than 40 girls’ lacrosse teams from across the United States will storm the desert this weekend for a tournament in Indio.
College recruiters are expected to be among the spectators watching teams from 10 different states.
Some of those visitors in town early had a unique California experience on Thursday, when a 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook the valley.
“I was lying in bed watching TV, and I thought my teenage daughter was kicking the bed. To my surprise she was not,” Don Clark of Gainesville, Va. wrote in an e-mail to The Desert Sun. He and his daughter are staying at the La Quinta Resort & Club.
Sand Storm at Palm Springs, produced by Synapse Sports Inc. of Maryland, is taking place at Empire Polo Club, 81-800 Avenue 51. Games start at 9 a.m. today and 8 a.m. Sunday.
