October 12, 2008 (Los Angeles, Calif.)–16 new players have joined the USC Women’s Lacrosse team for the 2009 campaign. The rookies represent 7 different states (Calif., Colo., N.J., Va., N.Y.,Mass., & R.I.) and two countries (U.S. and Canada). With 35 total members, USC Lacrosse will now field an “A” and a “B” team in the WWLL this season.
While still a work in progress, the current plan is to field a 21-member “A” team and a 14-member “B” team in order for every player to see plenty of lacrosse action. The “A” team will play 14-regular season games while the “B” team will play 12. Former attack player Marissa Pesce (USC, 2008) will serve as the head coach of the newly established “B” squad.
